Sable pelts hang in bunches at the hunters cooperative headquarters in Petropavlovsk. Wire mesh covers the windows to prevent theft, as these furs are one of the Kamchatkans' most valuable products and will likely be exported. The animals are trapped, not shot, as bullets would damage the pelts. The woman shown here is in charge of storing and grading the furs.
