Ask the Experts
Note: We are no longer accepting questions, but we encourage you to peruse the Q&A's posted at the bottom of this page.

Between December 13 and 20, 2000, two experts—a specialist on eating disorders and a recovered anorexic—answered selected questions about eating disorders from readers of this Web site. Those questions and responses are available below. The experts are:

Dr. Craig Johnson

Dr. Craig Johnson, director of the Eating Disorders Program at Laureate Psychiatric Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Oklahoma Medical School. Johnson is president-elect of Eating Disorders Awareness and Prevention and former director of the National Eating Disorders Organization. He has authored two books and over 70 scientific articles and has received several distinguished contribution awards.

Kate Dillon

Kate Dillon, a plus-size model and recovered anorexic. Dillon was recently highlighted in People Magazine's 50 most beautiful people in the world 2000, and she participated in Gucci's Spring 2000 campaign, making her the first full-figured model in a mainstream fashion ad. Besides modeling for Wilhelmina Models in New York, she has gained recognition as a lecturer on issues of body image and self-esteem, and during Eating Disorders Awareness Week in February 2000, she was a guest speaker at Harvard Medical School.
