Projectiles

A woman holds two cannonballs that weigh the same. Both will leave her hands at the same time, but this time she'll drop one and push the other away from the tower. She'll be careful to push the ball in a direction that is parallel to the ground.

What do you think will happen?

  1. the ball that falls straight down will reach the ground first

  2. both balls will reach the ground at the same time

  3. the ball that is thrown horizontally will reach the ground first
