As of this writing in early February 2004, the 21st Combat Support Hospital remains in Iraq, treating American, Iraqi, and other wounded and sick every day in Balad, a desert town north of Baghdad. NOVA online asked a number of doctors and nurses who appeared in "Life and Death in the War Zone" to comment on what life has been like at the 21st since filming ended in May 2003. How do they feel about their experience? What have been the high and low points? What has it been like to work with fellow CSH personnel? Five responded, including one who has returned to the States. To read their impassioned responses, and to view a short video clip of each shot in Iraq last spring, click on the names or images below. |
