Here is a more accurate depiction of polar-front jet streams. The jet streams result from the complex interplay between many variables—variables such as the location and movement of high and low pressure systems, cold air, and seasonal changes. They meander around the globe, dipping and rising in altitude, dividing at times and creating eddies, and even disappearing altogether to appear somewhere else.
