Type II (4)

When the star's core begins to run out of hydrogen, the denser helium at the center contracts, which generates more heat. This causes the helium atoms to fuse with one another to form carbon and oxygen atoms. These newly formed, heavier atoms displace some of the helium atoms from the center.
