Imagine taking off from London's Heathrow airport at 9 a.m. and after an immaculately smooth flight arriving in New York before 8 o'clock that same morning. It was possible on Concorde, which routinely made the trans-Atlantic flight in three and a half hours (making it 12:30 p.m. London time when you landed but just 7:30 a.m. in New York).
