GUEST: My mother remembers seeing it all the time when she was a child. She doesn't know whether her parents got it as a wedding gift, or whether they got it sometime early in her childhood.

APPRAISER: This piece of Weller, Woodcraft-- that's the name of the line-- was probably not given to your grandparents as a wedding present.

GUEST: Okay, it's later than that.

APPRAISER: A little bit later than that. This dates from about 1920.

GUEST: Okay.

APPRAISER: Now, as far as price goes, if this were perfect, it would be $2,000 to $3,000. Which is quite nice, right? However, there's a little hairline here, right here.

GUEST: Mm-hmm.

APPRAISER: And collectors of Weller and Roseville are very picky about the condition of their pieces. It has to be absolutely perfect, otherwise it goes down quite a bit. With that, the price is worth about $1,500 to $2,000.

GUEST (laughing): Well, I guess I'm going to have to stop using it as an umbrella stand then.

APPRAISER: You should stop using it as an umbrella stand. (chuckling)
