GUEST: It was made for my great-great-grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary by Tiffany's.

GUEST: Their son had it made, and he told them what he would like on it, and...

APPRAISER: I've got to say, the son must have been fairly prosperous to afford something like this.

GUEST: I understand he went to South America and made a few dollars. I don't know how he did it, but...

APPRAISER: Huh.

GUEST: That was the story.

APPRAISER: Now, we have the date on which they were married. I believe it's 1825. And then the wedding anniversary is 1875.

GUEST: Yes.

APPRAISER: Now, what's kind of fascinating about this piece is all the inner workings, all this leafage, that's all solid gold. Now, the outer casing is actually a gilt bronze, gold plated bronze. And on the back we actually have a mark, okay, a Tiffany and Co. mark, Union Square address, and it's in wonderful condition overall. It could have been bought new yesterday. Now, have you ever had it appraised, or considered its value?

GUEST: No, we haven't, no. It's been in the family, handed down from one person to the other.

APPRAISER: Well, I think at auction, it's quite possible that it would probably bring between $15,000 and $20,000.

GUEST: Really? My goodness.

APPRAISER: Now, it's a pretty amazing piece from Tiffany.
