GUEST: My mother got it in the '70s from a little antique store in Beaver, West Virginia. And she spent seven dollars for it. She took it to a museum and they told her it was made probably in the 1300s to 1500s, but they wouldn't give her a value, so we never knew what it was worth.
APPRAISER: Okay, well, we have a dilemma.
GUEST: Okay.
APPRAISER: Because I know the letter indicated they thought it was from Panama, and this is absolutely classic reproductions from Mexico.
GUEST: Reproduction?
APPRAISER: I have seen thousands of these things. It's very, very fragile, very soft, the eyes look exactly like this, the mouth, the color of the clay, everything. And as is, the thing is probably worth ten to $15. The only thing I can say is you're the only woman I've ever disappointed in my life. (laughs) You don't believe that.
GUEST: Well, I'm not that disappointed. I'm still happy about it.
