GUEST: So, it came down through our family, and I just always really loved it.
APPRAISER: It's really charmingly painted. I especially love all the kind of romantic details with the hearts on it, and also, I love this wonderful strap handle. I mean...
GUEST: Yes.
APPRAISER: The handle was made in two pieces, and they were, and they were interwoven and stuck to the pot when it was made.
GUEST: Mm-hmm.
APPRAISER: This dates from around the 1770s to 1780s.
GUEST (laughs): Oh, my God.
APPRAISER: And made in England.
GUEST: Oh!
APPRAISER: Okay? And there are no marks whatsoever on the bottom.
GUEST: That's, that was always the mystery.
APPRAISER: I think exact year and the maker doesn't affect the value that much.
GUEST: Great.
APPRAISER: I would think, in today's market, a retail value on this pot would be somewhere between $2,000 and $3,000.
GUEST: Okay.
APPRAISER: Which is, which is really quite nice for a little teapot.
GUEST: That, that's great. I'm just thrilled to have it. I'm, it's not going anywhere.
APPRAISER: If it was plain white...
GUEST: Mm-hmm.
APPRAISER: Without any painted decoration, it would probably be only worth $300 or $400.
GUEST: Really?
APPRAISER: The value is in the decoration.
