APPRAISER: When this was new this would have been exceptionally expensive. And only, basically, fairly rich people could have afforded something like this when it was new. It's also very well-modeled with this very elegant neoclassical shape with the masks on the front and the back which are really, really great. This piece, because of the exceptional quality and the very dramatic shape of it would be worth somewhere between $2,500 and $3,500.
