APPRAISER: Where did you get this absolutely charming little group?

GUEST: From my family. That's about all I know about it except it's an Anna Hyatt.

APPRAISER: And who in your family got it?

GUEST: Well, probably my father. We broke up his house in 1983. I thought it would be a nice memento from home, and I kept it with me.

APPRAISER: Anna Hyatt Huntington was probably one of America's most famous animal sculptors of the early 20th century. She studied in New York with leading artists, but she also spent a lot of time at zoos and circuses actually observing animals. So you have this charming, charming group, these two figures interacting, a little mother and child. This piece was probably made in the 1920s. It's cast from what we call a lost wax technique. So it's very, very sharply detailed, very clearly cast. It has a beautiful patina on it. I think in a gallery it would probably be in the $5,000 range.

GUEST: (chuckling) Oh, my goodness. Not a doorstop.

APPRAISER: I don't think so.
