APPRAISER: Well, they're real eye catchers, of course. Everybody who's walked by these chairs has said, you know, "I can't believe it." Yes, "What are they?" Rustic furniture, which is sometimes called twig style furniture, been around since the 17th century. And these are probably rhododendrons.
GUEST: Yes.
APPRAISER: So rhododendron trees are draped, because they have those branches with all of these curves and twists.
GUEST: All of the interesting knolls.
APPRAISER: Exactly. And they have beautiful flowers, too. But the branches are really great. These chairs were made probably about 1890 to 1910, right in there. So it's pretty early for rustic furniture, which is great. I love these knotty handles on the... you know, you can just grab onto those. He picked a perfect piece of wood. Well, I would put an auction estimate on these probably around $1,800 to about $2,200 for the pair.
