GUEST: My mother bought it in the mid-'70s in north central Indiana. After she passed away, nobody wanted it, and so we ended up with it. And looking at it, we discovered the Gallé signature on it.
APPRAISER: Okay, it's a fire-polished piece, which is the cameo is cut and then there is polish with heat after that. It's nicely done with a green color. Here is the signature here, Gallé. And of course Emile Gallé was a premier glassmaker, and previously had been known as a premier jeweler and was one of the people that created the standard for French art glass, especially cameo glass. Any idea of value?
GUEST: None at all.
APPRAISER: Okay. This is a nice big piece, nice palette, nice interior color. I would say probably $3,000 to $5,000 at auction.
GUEST: Wonderful.
APPRAISER: At auction, yeah.
GUEST: Wonderful.
APPRAISER: Okay?
GUEST: Very good.
APPRAISER: Thank you for bringing it in. It's always a pleasure to see very nice glass.
