you describe the characteristics, try to understand how they have helped the
animal to better compete for food. For example, a carnivore eats meat; its
teeth are often pointed and relatively long and sharp to tear into its prey. In
contrast, a herbivore such as a cow has teeth that have a flatter surface and
are better suited to grind and chew grass.
